Chocolate Salami Is a Bite of Heaven
Chocolate Salami Is a Bite of Heaven it is no secret to all of us that chocolate-based deserts are delicious. Chocolate is a bite of heaven, well at least for me. Tomorrow I’m going to visit a friend and what else could I bring with me than slices of this delicious chocolate salami? I know she loves chocolate and it will be a great surprise. The recipe is very easy, and as a bonus there is no baking needed.
Ingredients for Chocolate Salami Is a Bite of Heaven
- 400g of dry biscuits
- 100 g of butter
- 100 g dark chocolate
- 2tbs cocoa (unsweetened)
- 100 g chopped walnuts
- 50g of raisins
- 2-3 tbs brown sugar (white sugar is possible too )
- 2 tbs Baccardi/ rum essence
- 150 ml milk
- 100g shredded coconut
Preparation for Chocolate Salami Is a Bite of Heaven
First place the milk and sugar on the stove, on the low setting. The sugar has to melt, but don’t let the milk reach boiling temperature. Once it has melted, let it cool down.
In the meantime, crumble the biscuits and place them in a large bowl with the cocoa powder, raisins, ¾ of the coconut shreds, the rum and the chopped walnuts. Add the butter – softened, at room temperature – and mix all the ingredients together in the bowl. Now you can slowly pour the milk in the composition, but keep stirring. Don’t let the mixture become too soft. Depending on your biscuits, you may not need all the milk, so use only what you need. The paste has to be soft, but hard enough no tot stick to your hands.
Now that you are almost done, you should divide the composition in two. Sprinkle the table with some coconut shreds and roll the dough into a salami shape, with the help of kitchen cellophane / saran wrap/ cling film. Do the same for the other half . Place the salami in the fridge for a good couple of hours. The cake has to be hard enough to be sliced with a knife.
When ready to serve, slice the salami in thick slices. It tastes great next to coffee or a cup of tea, and the tray will empty in no time.
In my case the chocolate salami will accompanied by a cup of dark coffee and a lot of gossip and laughter with a dear friend .
